Music and Madness

The same four chords repeat over and over again.

"Structure," comes a whisper. "You need it to build the chaos."

Slowly, a melody is woven around the chords. A few notes here, a few notes there.

"Towers of iron will."

The wild melody starts repeating, notes circling around each other like a mantra.

"A wall of music. A crazy world, is the sanity on the inside or outside?"

Every once in a while a note goes slightly off, but happens exactly the same way in each repetition.

"I'm on top of the world / Everything's on fire / But my wings are unfurled / Don't listen to the liar"

The number of off notes increase, wrapping around each other forming a repeating element of chaos the same way the primary chords create their foundation.

"You've got to be mad / It's a road of pain / Here's not so bad / It's the outside world that's insane"

The notes drift off and there is the scribbling sound of a pen against paper, and then the turning of pages as something is closed. Fabric rustles.

"Another song I'll never want to play."

There is a sigh, and the sound of a door opening and closing.
