That's not something I would have, but you might try the feedback form on the author's website.

The butterfly

Alas, I am not really competent to comment on the butterfly itself. The habitat is a warm and muggy nature preserve with a stream and waterfalls running throughout, with either a sandy or a muddy bottom, and forest in the surrounding area. You can see more of the environment by looking at the other pictures in this set.

If you have specific questions, I can try to answer them.

I think you should tell more about the butterfly instead of how you found it beacuse some of us want to know about the habitat!!!!!

Always the first to die

The song has been around for a bit. I first heard it in 2001, and have yet until now found where to download it. The friend who let me listen to it is long since moved on. Its great, for any of us gamers who know people who play mages. One of the best DnD songs or sound peices I have heard to date, I hear there are a couple other good ones. The others tend to be.... well annoying after a while. "I cast magic missle on the darkness!" and "If there are girls there I want to dooo themmm!" have been used way way way too often.

Always the first to die author

Hey guys,

I saw on your site you were looking to credit who wrote "Always the First to Die". It is absolutely amazing to me that my song has spread like it did. I wrote that song in 1998 and used to play it at work for my geek friends. As a lark, I recorded it at my cousin's house because he had some equipment setup, but I honestly don't remember sending it to anyone, MAYBE one or 2 people. So, we were at GenCon this weekend and I heard a guy say he had heard the song "Always the first to die". I remarked that I had written a song called that and to my absolute shock, he started SINGING THE WORDS. I was beside myself with disbelief. So, 5 minutes of googling later revealed that it is indeed out there, circulating. I even saw a flash movie someone made!

So yeah, it was indeed me. You can credit "Jinx from jinx.com", that would be great. It's the only song I've written about D&D (thus far), and one of the only songs I ever wrote.

(I tried to send you an email about this but I guess it didn't get there) It's showing up in search engines when people are searching for my name. I can't imagine that this would be good for business.

Oh, and don't believe everything you read.

You managed to post this on Zed's website, which is a curious way of not making contact with Zed, but I've forwarded the message to my father.

Feel free to use the 'feedback' link on the right if you want to send a more private message or leave contact information (or tell me exactly what it is that bothers Daan so much about me).

Hi Allen,

My name is Jenessa. I met you in 1998. Daan and I had come to visit you at your home.

Ever since Fay's death, Daan has been lost, and very depressed, too depressed. Daan needs someone or something that can help him and I'm not it. You are the only person who I can think of that might beable to do something. Please do not have Zed contact him.

This is Daan's schedual:

Image sizes

The image sizes listed are constraints, that is that they guarantee that the image will not exceed those dimensions. This works out about right for images in landscape orientation, but breaks down a bit for portrait, since you hit the constraint on the shorter y axis.

Since the images are 2:3 vertical, they will of course end up exactly one half the width of a 4:3 screen resolution.

You'll probably want my 16-bit .psd for resizing and printing, depending on what size you want to print at. Let me know if you find a good printing place locally.

Image shrinkage

It seems that the image sizes listed below the photograph are inaccurate. In fact, they link to images exactly one-half expected size. Great image, though! I may ask you one day for a permission to print a large copy for hanging on a wall of my house.

I'm putting on my art critic hat

Both images are quite stunning. The close-up is amazing for the detail of the not only the droplet, but the petal (and the tiny dried droplets on its side), shadow, and the color changes. There is a lot happening here -- I particularly like the veining on the petal -- but if I had to narrow it down and say there was one thing to focus on here, it would be the interplay between the shadow and the luminescent quality of the droplet, dark and liquid light. My eyes keep returning to that border.

The other image puts the petal in context, and thus adds another dimension of interaction. The first image seems to rely on its detail for its impact; the second tries to include more color and texture contrast. From that aspect, I think that the second one allows the viewer to appreciate the droplet+petal system as a whole more fully. Instead of focusing my attention primarily on the brightness amidst the shadow, I can better notice the luminescence and shading of the entire droplet and petal, as well as their apparent "smoothness", since there is more "rough" background to compare against than in the first image. Of course, the color contrast also works to set off the petal and droplet from the background.

As to which one I prefer, that is a hard call. It changes every time I look at them.
