I survived Katrina

For those that pay no attention whatsoever to the weather, this isn't an angry lover, but the hurricane that just passed through Louisiana and Mississippi. As I predicted (as it has been every year), Baton Rouge was far enough away that it got nothing more than strong winds and some rain. This year, there wasn't even enough to cause flooding, which was my primary concern. I did have one near miss with the car:

Near Miss

Fortunately, however, no harm was done. As I also predicted, however, power went out... and it went out for longer than I was expecting. The gigantic UPS I have attached to resonant.org kept the server up for several hours, but eventually ran out of juice. The loss of power did give me an excuse to poke at the hardware settings one more time as it came up, and the chip appears to be operating at full speed now, so there was some small benefit to the storm.

New Orleans seems to have been spared the potential disaster it was facing (if the hurricane had taken one very precise path, oddly a near miss on the city rather than directly through it, the resulting water movement would have broken the levees and thoroughly destroyed New Orleans). This is a good thing, but it looks like Mississippi got nailed instead, which isn't so good. Reports are scarce, but here's to hoping that the body count is low.
