The Political Compass

There is a website with a self-test available to plot your political position not just in terms of "left" or "right", but on a two-dimensional graph putting "economic left/collectivism" to "economic right/libertarianism" on the x-axis and "libertarian/anarchism" to "authoritarian/fascism" on the y-axis.

I come out solidly collectivist and somewhat on the anarchist side, according to their test (-6.75,-4.36), sitting in roughly the same spot that they place Ghandi. In the sense that I don't trust large, powerful groups, be they governments or corporations, to look out for the interests of individuals, I suppose that's about right. I'm not yet convinced that this is really a useful way of looking at the political spectrum, however.
